It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

The preview shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
